To be sure, there are lots of things happening now that holiday preparations for Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year's. Lights are going up, candles are being prepped, and trees and presents are being bought and prepped too - especially those requests to Santa!

But the holidays are not joyous for some folks. There are those who've lost a loved one this year and whose table will be more empty at the holiday. There are people experiencing loneliess, or who have few family or friends to check in on them. There are also those who - fo whatver reason - just feel more lonely this time of year.

That's why it's incredibly important that we check in on our neighbors and friends who are going through a difficult time. It's very hard for some to even open up right now, but having someone who cares enough to stop in or invite them over for the holiday meal.

There may not always be smiles for the holidays, but there is always room for love. After all, isn't that what the holiday season is all about/
