Here it is again - Valentine's Day.

We usually give things to those we love on the annual holiday to commemorate how much they mean to us. It's all good! After all, family and friends have stuck by us through many trials and tribulations. Why not appreciate all they've given us?

But it's also as good a time as any to show yourself some love, too. Who better to pamper, to share some affection for, than yourself? You give a lot to others. Why not to you, too?

So let's take a look at a few ways you can indulge in a little self-pampering. Some ideas from a Boston University post provide food for thought:

  1. Focus on you. Take a nap or take time to reconnect with an old friend. Something simple can elevate your mood greatly!
  2. Look for the good. Write down or say things that you're grateful for, and soon you'll be seeing that there truly is a positive side to all the world's chaos.
  3. Make some plans. Do something with friends - or just for yourself - on Valentine's Day.
  4. Take a break from social media. After you finish reading here, of course! But the idea is clear - pick up a book, or watch an action movie, or whatver else. Just step away from scrolling all the time!
  5. Perform a random act of kindness. Pay for someone's coffee or a meal. Or maybe send a random friend a card noting how you're thinking of them. It's quick, it's easy, and it lifts your mood!

Enjoy this Valentine's Day and every day, knowing you care about the most important person staring back at you in the mirror. As someone once said, if you can't love yourself, how the h*ll are you going to love someone else?
